Many people ask me if Reiki can really help them, their loved ones, their pet, or a situation. Speaking from my own personal experience, my answer would be yes, it can. Reiki is a Japanese word which means: Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki is a very powerful system of healing which originated about 2500 or so years ago in Tibet. It is called Usui Reiki, or more formally, Usui Shiki Ryoho, and is named after its founder, Dr. Mikao Usui. This Universal Life Force Energy is used to encourage healing in all living things on the mental, physical, emotional & spiritual levels. It is gentle and non-invasive, and works subtly, yet deeply, to heal anything or anyone it is channeled to. It may also be combined with other forms of healing to increase the effectiveness and speed with which healing occurs. Examples of this would be: Crystal Therapy, Touch Healing, Chakra Balancing & Clearing, Massage, EFT, just to name a few. Reiki also compliments traditional therapies, and has been proven to be very effective in assisting those recovering from surgery and trauma.
Reiki can be performed on a client via distance or in person. In person, the practitioner would lay his/her hands on or above the client(you MUST always get permission to touch the client in any way, as this is a very personal issue for most), and the client is always fully clothed. The practitioner does not 'do' the healing, he/she channels the Reiki, or as it is often called, 'runs' the energy, and often-times the practitioner's hands will become warm. This is often how the practitioner knows that they are ready to begin the session.
Reiki can also be conducted via distance. This can be done via telephone, but this is often un-necessary, as Reiki can bridge time and space, and one can even send Reiki to the past or future to heal a situation. I have had great success with this.
In a distance Reiki session, the practitioner may visualize and intend, sending the Reiki in Chi-ball form, or, the practitioner may work with a Teddy Bear or similar, as if you are the bear, and in their presence. I am proficient at Astral Travel, so this is the technique I use. I astral travel to the client to work on them 'in person', if you will. This is similar to Shamanism...it is an otherworldly journey through time and space.
Blocks in the body are often caused by stress, anxiety, trauma, fear and lack of self-confidence. Reiki can unblock these blocked areas which hold the stress/trauma/etc, and free up the Life Force energy, so the body can more readily heal itself. I have worked at length with both humans & animals(pets) and have been witness to many wonderful healings which I would not dare to attempt to explain in typical terms. I just know that Reiki works!
